Cousin Fun

Molly is here to visit!!! She has grown up so much since I last saw her! (Jim and Julie are here too. :) ) This afternoon us girls (Oma, Aunt Julie, Molly, Lucy and I) went to the Museum of Play. We had a great time!

Molly thought these blocks were hilarious.

I think Oma was having fun too.

Lucy has been into helping Daddy so she really liked the tool bench and tools. She was a bit worried about the "sharps", the saws, because she knows she isn't supposed to touch them. I explained that they were pretend saws so it was okay to touch these ones.

Here is Molly coming after me- walking! She kept wanting me to walk with her or hold her. I am a huge fan of kids who like me! :)

3 Milestones then Pics and Video

Three new milestones for Lucy this week. First, She has started referring to herself as me. If you ask her something like "who is Lucy" she will point to herself and answer "me". She doesn't do it all of the time but I was pretty impressed with her! Second, she can jump now. For a few weeks she has been bouncing up and down and saying jump, but she can now actually get her feet of the ground. She almost fell over yesterday when her feet came back down but she is getting the hang of it. Third, and I don't know if this is really a milestone but Dave is super excited about it, Lucy can go to the fridge open the door and get a beer out for Daddy! This might be the most exciting thing she has ever done in his eyes. :)

Anyway, on to the pictures which is what you really came here for.

This is our ultrasound picture from last week. I never had such a clear picture of Lucy. It was very exciting to see him!

Lucy's "first" time playing in the snow. (Once last year I got the two of us all bundled up to play and as soon as I put her down in the snow she started crying. Needless to say I didn't bother with that again last year.)

Last Wednesday Granny took to Chuck E. Cheese for Dave's birthday dinner. :) We had a ton of fun. This picture is Lucy an Kim being mesmerized by the singing anamatronic Chuck E.

Lucy of course dragged Granny all over the place. They both loved it!

The weather outside is frightful...

I am feeling pretty accomplished; I got Lucy's big Christmas gift already! She is getting a play kitchen and while we were shopping at BJs for other things on Thursday they happened to have a nice one so I bought it. Of course that spontaneous buy didn't happen to fit in my car. :( doh! The people very kindly (a.k.a. without making fun of me) put it on hold for me and I went back yesterday to pick it up with Evie's car. Better yet, I went back yesterday in Evie's car without Lucy! She stayed home with Evie so I made a couple of stops and even got my eyebrows done and bangs trimmed!!!!!

As for the title of this post, we have been having near record cold this week. It has been staying int he 20s and low 30s while normally this time of year it is in the 40s. brrr! It has also snowed almost every day this week. They are predicted more snow all this coming week too. Again brrr! You would think I still lived in the Adirondacks. I have a video of Lucy playing in the snow that I will try to put up later. Right now Dave is getting ready to leave to go hunting so I am off to try to entertain Lucy. I am not used to this super early morning thing! :(

A Good Day

We just got back from the midwife's and an ultrasound. Everything is looking good! We got to see the baby's face during the ultrasound, it was so cool! We must not have had an ultrasound this late with Lucy because we never got to see such a clear picture of her. We watched him open and close his mouth! They said he is about 2 pounds now which a little big but not huge so that is a relief. My weight and blood pressure were great today and the results of my early diabetes screening were normal. So everything is great!!! My next appointment is in two weeks, we have moved up to two week appointments instead of monthlies!

That is the good. The bad is I have to go get a maternity support belt and I am going to start physical therapy for my sciatica. I guess that is good really it should help me feel better but I have a feeling the support belt is less than attractive, at least it goes under my clothes. :) In other bad news, Lucy is having sleep issues, again. Tonight we will be sleep training, again. She was coming with us around 5am and falling back asleep which was fie but she started crying to come in earlier and earlier. Dave and i decided the only way to stop this is to not let her come in with us at all. Starting tonight/tomorrow am we will not be going in to her until at least 5am and at that point we will be getting up for the day. Expect a tired, cranky bunch if you see us in the next few days. I want to take a nap now but Lucy is not yet asleep and I can't seem to settle down and stop thinking about the things that need doing. With Christmas approaching and my belly getting bigger and bigger I feel in a rush to get holiday things finished.

On that note, I better get to work while I can. I have a bunch of computer stuff to do and since Lucy thinks it should always be time for computer games I need to do it while she is upstairs in bed. Keep your fingers crossed that she goes to sleep!

A Funny Story

On Monday afternoon, Lucy and I decided to bake some corn bread. I got everything out and we started to put the ingredients together. I told her "we need to find the 1/4 cup". Lucy bent over the basket I keep the measuring cups in so I bent over to look in the basket with her, at that exact moment she pulls out a measuring cup, a metal measuring cup, and that little girl is stronger than you think. So yes, she clocked me in the nose with the metal measuring cup. I just got home from the doctor's office which is where I went to find out if my nose is broken. Good news, it's not, it is just a bit swollen and sore.

That is my funny story for today. I have a slightly swollen, bruised, sore nose.

A Perfect Sunday Afternoon

We took a nap:

Then we did some cooking:

Lucy helps like I do; we are best at supervising. :) She picked a measuring cup out and decided she wanted to have some milk in it. She is so cute! Recently she has started pretending. Before he asked for milk in her measuring cup she was pretend drinking out of it. She also likes to feed her dolls and she has actual "conversations" when she pretend talks on the phone. When there is a real voice on the other end she still tends to clam up.

She also talks about people when they aren't around, I like to see her remembering. She talks a lot about Grandma, BobBob, Molly, Uncle Jim, Aunt Julie, Big Dee, Linda, Pam, and of course Kim and Oma. She wants to call these people constantly, and she always asks me if they will be at the Diner. By the way, if someone isn't at our house our with us at a particular moment they are at work. Lucy knows a lot of hard working people and I think she thinks they all work at the Oil Company just like Daddy, Kim, Oma and Grandpa do. Really a good portion of the people she knows work at the Oil Company, so therefore that is where everyone works right?

I weighed Lucy yesterday and she still weighs 20.5 pounds. She really feels like a lot more than that!!! Plus she eats nonstop so I was surprised she hasn't gained any weight. I was complaining about our grocery bill this morning and Dave reminded me that soon we will have another mouth to feed. I however reminded him that for the first 6 months give or take, the baby's food won't cost anything, yeah for breastfeeding!!

In other baby news I don't have much to report. My pottery friends, who hadn't seen me for two weeks, said I am definitely getting bigger. Which is the same thing Aunt Joyce said yesterday, Aunt Pam just stared at my giant belly. :) Baby Brother is definitely growing and getting stronger, Dave can feel him sometimes now. One really weird feeling thing I had forgotten about but was reminded of this week, once the baby gets a bit bigger (like now) you can feel him jump, or do a jig or whatever it is he is doing in there, right directly on my bladder. A very weird, not painful but certainly not good feeling.

Oh, my belly button is getting shallower, I am thinking it will probably pop out this time since I am so big and I still have a little over 3 months to go. I am rather nervous about that, belly button that is. :) Also, my sciatica is really acting up. I could barely move on Friday because on Thursday i had done some yard work and then went to pottery class and threw a few things (when you throw you sit at a low stool and bend over the potter's wheel). So I guess I am done with most yard work (yeah!) and with throwing at pottery. :( At least I can still work at a table and hand build, I would be very depressed to have to give up pottery.

I have written a lot, I hope that makes up for the gap since my last post!

I did it!

I finished the rug for the baby's room!

I am so excited about it! This is a lucky baby, I never made anything for Lucy while I was pregnant. Well, I tried to make her a sweater but it did not work out. :)

Because I had the camera out Lucy had to have her picture taken too. I tried to take my picture quick but she sensed photos be taken and came running.

Thank you Aunt Grace for teaching me how to make the rug and thank you Aunt Linda for giving me the canvas to make it on! I know I said this before but rug hooking is the best craft ever! This rug was so quick and easy to make! Thank you aunties!

Trick-or-Treating

We trick and treated our way around town last night. We had a great time, Lucy and I both crashed as soon as we got home. We went to a total of 5 houses and were out for about 3 hours.

First we went to Granny's house. Lucy was a little scared of Granny in the dark with the hat on. Once the lights were on and she was sure it was Granny she was fine.

A picture if me in my costume. I wore Granny's hat for most the of the night because my horns fell off. I was just too good for them. ;)

Daddy even got into the Halloween spirit and wore Granny's hat for a bit.

Next we went to Oma and Grandpa's house.

Then to the Hansen's. Aunt Linda gave Lucy a Magna Doodle which she loves! She likes to scribble something, or have you scribble something, then slide the thing across to erase it. You can't see Lucy's face in this picture but that is kind of why i like it. her hat was a bit big for her so most of the night you couldn't see her face and when she looked up it would fall off.

Lucy thought the girls were sooo funny. She kept fake laughing at them to make them laugh.

Next we were on to Ganny and Poppa's house. Lucy kindly let Ganny try on her hat.

Then she made both of them play matchbox cars with her. Here is a picture of her playing with Poppa.

Last we stopped around the corner from our house to visit Ganny's friend Harriet and Harriet's daughter Darlene. I forgot to take my camera in there. :( Lucy finally said "trick-or-treat" to Harriet and Darlene. All night she would say it over and over int he car but stay mum when we got to someone's house. I couldn't even get her to say it on camera. :( She was saying "Happy ween" too!

Once we got home we all changed into jammies and hung out for a little bit to let Lucy unwind before bed. Once she went to bed she went right to sleep and I fell asleep while Dave was putting her to bed. Trick-or-treating is hard work!

Today Dave had to work so Lucy and I invited ourselves along to a craft fair with the Aunties. It was a really good fair too! They had a combination of antiques and crafts. I got this hideously awesome turkey platter for Dave.

It sure is something isn't it?!?!? I am actually excited to take down the Halloween decorations so that I can find a prominent spot to display that thing! I am really enjoying Dave's attraction to really ugly fowl decorations, so much so that he has cut me off from buying him any more unless they are really really ugly, like this tray. :)

I think the rest of tonight and tomorrow will be spent chilling at home and maybe grocery shopping.
