Sigh...

Nothing is happening, still. I went and had a non-stress test yesterday and an ultrasound. Once you are overdue they do those tests to make sure everything is still going well and that the baby still has plenty of amniotic fluid. Both tests were perfect. The only news to report from them is that the ultrasound showed the baby as weighing in at about 9lbs 6oz!!! I guess I have a really comfortable womb. :)

Last night we went to the farm and had a nice picnic of pizza with Kim and her friend Mary. Mary has been kind of skeptical of our crazy farming/house building activities, she may think we are crazy. :D So, the obvious thing to do when she came to town last night was to drag her to the pasture to pet the baby donkey. His cuteness can win anyone over.

I am sorry there are no pictures to go with that but I was too busy walking up and down the construction site. I was hoping walking up and down hill on uneven ground might jostle something. Didn't work, sigh.

Update

I went to the midwife this morning and all is well. My blood pressure is great and the baby is moving around lots, despite how cramped he is. They are guessing he will be at least as big as Freddy, who was 8lbs 12oz, so yikes! I have a non-stress test and an ultrasound set for tomorrow afternoon to check on him and make sure he still has plenty of fluid and whatever else it is they check for. If that is all good we keep waiting, but not for too long!! I have an appointment to be induced Monday morning if he doesn't show on his own before then! :) I feel so much better with an end in sight!! I will be spending the weekend walking around hoping things get moving.

The donkey has been named!! Lucy's choice won over Dave's choice, of course. ;) His name is Broccoli and we will be calling him Brock for short. :)

Lucy and Grandma built this castle this afternoon. She has a whole story to go with it about how the prince and princess need a different house because they have cats and the king and queen who live in the castle are mean. I think they are building the house now. Thank goodness Grandma is here to play, I am not up to it today. :/

Not too much going on...

Do men nest too? Dave is upstairs cleaning our bedroom right now. He decided that if a baby will be sleeping in there too maybe we should make room for it, like by picking up all of his clothes off the floor so the baby doesn't get lost. :D

He was extra nice to me today. He stayed home with the kids and sent me off to the thrift shop all alone. WooHoo!!!

We are having a nice quiet afternoon at home. I think in a little bit when there is a bit more shade in the yard we will go out and play in the wading pool.

Oh, to keep everyone updated, two things: 1. there is nothing happening on the baby front still and 2. Lucy has contact dermatitis all over her back. She broke out in a rash yesterday afternoon so I took her to the doctor this morning. It is most likely that she leaned on something, like maybe residue from some kind of cleaner, and because she was sweaty it bothered her more than it normally would and she broke out. We have some cream to put on it and I am keeping her hair up in a ponytail so that it doesn't rub it and make it feel itchier.

I've figured out the reason that 2 year olds are so crazy cute; they have to be so cute so you don't kill them when they are doing their terrible two thing. ;)

Hmmm...

Am I having a rush of energy before labor or have I simply lost my mind? Today and tomorrow are supposed to be record setting high heats days, tomorrow is predicted to be at least 96 degrees with humidity! Not sure what I am going to do tomorrow, but today I certainly did too much.

Since my parents were here to play with the kids and help out, I decided to get a few things done this morning. Dad and I made 12 jars of spicy refrigerator pickles. These are the ones I loved so much last year. Thank you for all the cucumbers Linda! Then I shredded the zucchinis that Dave has picked from our garden the last few days. I made: two trays of zucchini puree for the baby to eat this winter; two pans of zucchini muffins; one loaf of zucchini bread; and two bags of measured, shredded zucchini for post-season cooking. Then I picked up the living room because I am trying to stay in control of one room of my house. Now I am sitting and I may not get up again. :)

Lucy is highly sleep deficient so I am hoping if I leave her in bed long enough she will give in and take a nap. If she does, I think I will take one too. I was up every two hours last night to go to the bathroom, Mother Nature's way of getting me ready for night feedings. :) If she doesn't sleep I guess we will work on some more sewing projects. I have another shirt for me and a small owl stuffed animal for the baby in the works.

Oh, Dave finally caught Oatmeal and took her to get sheared this morning. Sheep may be dumb, but that girl was smart enough to have evaded him for weeks. I think she realized the error in her ways and let him catch her so she would be cooler. :D The shearer, Libby, told Dave that Oatmeal's fleece is beautiful, definitely the nicest of our three. So I really should get it skirted and scoured but I am not sure if that is going to happen too soon. When are you getting here Julie?

I am kind of feeling the urge to go do it now so maybe this is my energy spurt. Keep your fingers crossed for me!

Waiting

I thought I would let you know that nothing is happening. :/ We are just hanging out, sweating and waiting. They are expecting record highs this week and it was in the 90s this past weekend. We have been swimming a lot. :)

Look at how happy he is! :) He napped all afternoon and I took the opportunity to make him a much needed pair of shorts. He was thrilled that I made something for him.

A Short Update

It is 7:30am, and Fred and I have been up for two hours already. Lucy is still asleep. :/ Freddy woke up a bunch of times during the night and now he got up early; it should be an interesting day.

We are having a nice time this morning though. We had breakfast, we played toys, we snuggled, and he had a birthday party for Joe from Blue's Clues. Now he wants to snuggle again and read more books so I guess I won't be posting much else. :)

I am feeling pretty good still. Freddy has been suffering for a few days with allergies, and Lucy has been a bit sneezy off and on too. It was brief but you are now updated. :)

I thought you might like to see a picture of the basketball I am carrying around. :)
I am wearing the skirt I made last night. You can't really make out the print though, it just loks blurry. It is a very small floral in black and red. I am working on a new shirt tonight but it isn't looking very good. I am not sure if my sewing abilities are good enough to save it. I haven't given up yet and besides I can still make it into something for Lucy. :D

Hanging in- well out

My belly is hanging out really far so we are all relaxing and just hanging in through the heat and waiting. :) I thought I would write a really quick post while my iron is heating. I think I am really nesting now. I did a few runs to Goodwill which is my normal nesting M.O., but a couple of days ago I started feeling a very strong urge to sew- get this, for myself! I made a new bag to take to the hospital, and a post-maternity shirt. I'm getting ready to start a skirt. If I weren't feeling so rushed I would take the time to post some pictures. I'm sure I will be bored again soon and I will try to post some then.

My iron is definitely hot so I'm off. :)
