I know this looks really sad (and a little blurry, sorry) but Henry makes THE best faces when he is upset

I finally(!) finished another project for KCWC. The second half of my week was rather busy but I did sneak some work on this jersey knit dress. I think I want to add a pocket to this still but we'll see if Lu gives it back to me for long enough to do that. :)

First t-ball game!!!

Lucy might be the most popular kid in school right now. She brought a donkey to show and tell! :)

Dave might win Daddy of the year for it too, although the competition for that is stiff. One of the other dads is a police officer and came in uniform and let the kids check out his police car. Donkeys and police cars are both super cool. ;)

No Pictures :(

I don't have any pictures today, even though we had a great day. We spent the morning and early afternoon at the zoo for a field trip with Lucy's class. They got to have a special presentation from a zoo keeper and see a few animals up close. Then we went and saw some different animals with friends. The kids and I stayed and had lunch there and visited a few more exhibits. At about 1:45 though, Henry made it very clear that he had enough. He fell asleep as soon as I buckled him into his car seat. :) Three kids are a lot to handle so there aren't any blog worthy pictures from the zoo, sorry.

Lucky for me the other two also fell asleep on the way home! I sat in the driveway for almost an hour with 3 sleeping children. It was lovely. :)

I did manage to fit in a little sewing after the car nap, but only a very tiny bit. Then I made a lame dinner and took a shower. I always feel like I smell like zoo and need a shower after we visit the monkey house during cold weather. I guess it is too closed up when the weather is rotten. ;)

After that it was time to leave for Knitting Club, yeah!!!!!! I finally got to start crocheting the rag rug I am making for our new back porch. It is made of strips of sheets and other fabric, and I can't wait  to do it. Dave is going to finish the back, screened in porch first (soon) so the kids and I can have somewhere to hang out up there. I am hoping we can get a little bit of landscaping done back there too so Henry and I can be on the porch while Lucy and Freddy play in the yard.  I am so happy that we are far enough along that I can actually make something for the new house!!!

So, this is a picture-less post but you got an update. Tomorrow morning Lucy goes to kindergarten screening (eek!), and tomorrow evening I am going out for drinks with some of my mommy friends from preschool. Oh, and we have t-ball. In other words, I don't expect to get a lot of sewing done tomorrow either. Friday and Saturday afternoons look pretty good for me to accomplish something though, so I am not throwing in the towel yet!

Thinking of posting a picture on the blog is helping me keep my motivation up. :) Today I made two pairs of bandana pants (light blue for Freddy and turquoise for Lucy), and a pair of shorts for Lucy. I think I have my pattern worked out for her now. I traced another pattern and got it cut out too. We got up early today, can you tell? ;)
For the rest of the evening I am going to work on prepping my crochet project for knitting club tomorrow. I can't wait to go! :)

Henry is feeling better and has been so happy today. :)

I finished these crazy pajama shorts for Lucy. They are also my muslin for the shorts pattern I drew up. The pattern on this fabric is so crazy I am not sure i will be able to clearly assess the shape on these shorts. :D
I was going to make a pair of bandana pants for Freddy tonight too but I made a mistake while cutting them out so I think it is better if I call it quits for tonight.

Lucy is having her first ever snow day today!! We woke up to about an inch and a half of wet snow and it has been snowing all day but the temperature is just warm enough that it is melting when it hits the ground.
Both boys are napping so I quickly finished up this pair of plaid pants for Freddy. Now Lucy is going to sew some more on her unicorn skirt that she started a few weeks ago.

First item done! Thank you Aunt Nancy for translating this pattern for me! It was in Dutch and it needed a crocheter to work out the finer points that google translate wasn't getting. :)

I am sorry you only get a picture of the dress laying on my ironing board but my super cute model is asleep. :)

KCWC

Let's do this thing! 1 hour per day (maybe sneak some extra time too) for 1 week. I will keep you updated on what I manage to get done. Since I am cheating and starting today I will hopefully get a bunch done. I have a dress for Lucy that just needs finishing, a pair of pants for Fred cut out and another dress for Lucy cut out. Everyone needs shorts, Lucy wants dresses, I have a few shirts in mind for Freddy, and a couple of those one piece romper dealies for Henry. I have no disillusions of doing all of that this week but I think I can put a dent in that list, especially since I have now publicly declared my intentions. :)

Ear Infections

We went back to the doctor this afternoon to get the big kids checked out.   They both have ear infections too. Lucy even had a temperature that I was unaware of. :(

Here is the medical regimen for each child:
Lucy- 1 1/2 tsp of amoxicillin twice a day, 1 tsp Claritin once a day, ibuprofen and acetaminophen as needed
Freddy- 1 1/2 tsp amoxicillin twice a day, 1 tsp Claritin once a day, ibuprofen and acetaminophen as needed, albuterol via nebulizer 4 times a day
Henry- 2 ml cefdinir twice a day, ibuprofen and acetaminophen as needed, benadryl as needed

Kim says I get a pharmacological degree when this is over. :/

Henry not only has a double ear infection but he is cutting a tooth and he was constipated but he now has diarrhea from his antibiotic. He is SUPER cranky but his tooth is almost through so he should get happier and not need the pain killers soon.

Lucy is being her usual tough self in the face of illness. I only had her checked out because she wasn't quite acting like herself. Last night she kept laying down in the field at t-ball practice and she told Dave she was too tired to play. When I went to get her at school she was just hanging out quietly by herself on the playground. Not normal behaviors for her. She even got annoyed with Henry earlier today and she never gets upset at him.

Freddy starts coughing hard when he runs around. Tonight he coughed so hard he threw up (on me of course) after running around. I would have felt bad for him except that he immediately asked for a piece of chocolate cake. :) He is behaving in his normal "Evil Freddy" way that he has when he has an ear infection. It always takes me a couple days to remember that when he is being mean to Lucy for no reason it means he has an ear infection.

The kids kindly shared their colds with Daddy and Grandpa. I had it very mildly last week too, not nearly as bad as they have it.

Tomorrow Lucy and Freddy are spending the day with Oma and then staying the night too! Henry is going to go over for a while in the evening so Dave and I can go out to dinner. He and I have only been on one other non-funeral date since Henry was born. During the day Henry and I are going to a rummage sale and a thrift store with my friend Jenny. I am very excited for tomorrow! :) I just hope it all works out health wise, keep your fingers crossed for me!!!

Dave made me this fantastic cake (from scratch no less) for my birthday! Big news of the day though is that he is going to buy me a new sewing machine!!!! Since I use mine so much he wants to upgrade mine! Please share any advice you have on how to choose, there are so many brands and models.

Here is a picture to go with the post I wrote earlier. Apparently the sunshine is making him feel good because this is one of the few smiles I have seen from him today.

Sniffles

The kids spent spring break passing a cold around. Henry was not getting over it so I took him to the doctor this afternoon. He has a double ear infection and is very very stuffy. :( Fortunately Lucy is over it and Fred is almost over it, although he isn't sleeping great...

Who told this kid that it was okay to start growing up? There is hardly any baby left. :/

Wednesday, April 11, 2012

Lucy drew the one on the left, they are plaid circles. (Do we talk about and look at fabric too much? Hehehe)
The one on the right is by Freddy, they are elephant footprints. The elephants are on their way to an elephant museum.

All three kids have colds but the outlook for the day is good since I helped them make this fort this morning. Right now they are taking armloads of things in to it and "organizing" them. From what I am overhearing there is a book section, a baby toy section, and a puzzle section. Due to the colds I am going to insist they take a box of tissues in too. ;)

This is how Lucy and I entertained ourselves in the waiting room of the eye doctor's office this afternoon. She made a funny face and I took a picture of it so she could see how she looked. :) We also played tic-tac-toe on my phone (yes there is an app for that), and we picked out new frames. Her new glasses should be in in about a week. She got a new slightly weaker prescription so she should be able to see even better! :)

Easter egg hunt at school (yes Henry is passed out) :)

Tuesday, April 3, 2012

The only item on the McDonald's menu that is allegen free is the Happy Meal apples. :/ Henry is enjoying them though.
We are at the McDonald's PlayPlace as a reward for super excellent behavior at the thrift store.  :)

8 Months!

Henry Robert is 8 months old! It has gone so fast! I thought I would give a quick list of what he is up to these days.
-He is crawling fast and furious. He gets really mad when he makes it to where Lucy and Freddy are and they get up and go somewhere else.
-He loves Lucy and Freddy. Lucy still adores him, Freddy likes him some of the time. Fred gets mad when Henry crawls on his drawings, and he does not like the sloppy wet kisses Henry tries to cover him with.
-He has three teeth, two top and one bottom.
-He still prefers Mommy but he does love Daddy too now. he gets super excited when Dave gets hom,e from work.
-He loves Cheerios! He is doing really well (finally) with eating solids. It took awhile to get him interested but now he complains if you aren't quick enough.
-He can almost walk...April Fools!!!!! Hehe, I had to get one trick in today. :) Cousin Kate really can walk, see it here.
