Pictures and a Video

It has been a while since I posted any pictures or videos so yesterday we took a few. They are the end of summer. :( I meant to get these pictures all summer and finally got them, probably my last chance for this year.

The end of the 2008 sweet corn. The video is of her eating this ear.

Lucy loves to eat whole tomatoes straight out of the garden. After she finished this one she asked for another one.

Lucy and I finally did a little bit of our garden work. We weeded and moved a few plants around. We also started putting things in the shed for the winter.

I call this video "Yummy Corn". :)

She is a full fledged toddler now, there's no baby left. Good thing I will have a baby in February or else I would feel sad about that. Okay, I am a little sad anyway and I make her cuddle with me sometimes to make me feel better. :)

2nd From Me

A Second post from me today, shocking isn't it? Dave is putting Lucy to bed so I have a few minutes free. I was distracted by the baby/doggie game earlier and I forgot to say that Lucy has cradle cap. It's sort of like dandruff and is very common in newborns. Lucy never had it before now, weird. We are supposed to put baby oil or olive oil on her head, let it soak in and then try to comb or brush the stuff off of her. Sounds fun. :)

Lucy has been learning tons of new words lately, she just comes out with new ones all the time. Some catch me by surprise, the other day she pointed at a picture in her book and said "horse", I knew that she knew what a horse was and she knows what a horse says but she had never said it before. Anyway, her new favorite word is broccoli! We had some with dinner last night and she said it a couple of times and then I forgot about it. Well this morning on the way to the doctor's office she was singing to herself in the backseat and I suddenly realized she was singing "broccoli broccoli". It was very funny and cute, I will try to get a video of it.

I should probably go check on Dave and Lucy. The other night he came up to check on me because it had been quiet for a while and he found exactly what he thought he would find, both of us asleep. I can't help it, I get tired! :)

18 Months

We just got home from Lucy's 18 month doctor's appointment. She is perfect of course. :) She weighs 21 and a half pounds, that is about a two pound gain over the last year, and she grew an inch up to 30 and a half inches. She is between the 10th and 25th percentile for height and in the 10th percentile for weight, the little midget. :) I am so proud of her, she didn't cry at all not even when she got her shot!

Right now Lucy and Mae are playing chase so I had better go supervise. If Lucy catches Mae she will pull her tail. Poor Mae!

Chicken Wings, etc.

Yes, I am actually blogging! :) So this past Saturday was the 3rd Annual Chicken Wing Fung it was a great success! My dad won first place!

The prize was a jar of pickled eggs, so good for him (who else would want that prize, yuck!) :)

Here is Kim and her friend Mary, an avid blog reader.

Lucy and the Hansens chillin' at the bar.

Lucy was dressed for the occasion. She is acquiring quite the chicken wing related wardrobe!

In other news: I went to the midwife today and had a good appointment. Lucy and I heard the baby's heartbeat for the first time! We didn't get to hear it last time, which was stressful (I had an ultrasound to show that everything was okay but still stressful) so that was really exciting. The heartbeat is in the 160s which is fast and old wives tales would say that means its a girl, but I didn't throw up at all which old wives tales would say means its a boy. We get to find out which tale is true in four weeks when I have my anatomical scan (the big ultrasound). I can't wait! I am making Dave wait to paint the nursery until we find out. Lucy's room is yellow and green, I don't want another room the same color and what other neutral colors can you do?

In Lucy news: we are having a very hard time getting the girl to go to sleep. From start of her bedtime routine until she is asleep takes about an hour and a half and nap time takes around 45 minutes. It is getting very frustrating! She just won't stop babbling and tossing and turning. The good news on that front is that she is sleeping in her bed, instead of the crib, about half of the time. She still comes in with us anywhere between 1:00 and 5:30, but she sleeps until 6:30 or 7:00 which is much better than 5:30. I don't mind her coming in with us, if I could talk Dave into it I would buy a king size bed (we have a queen now) and put it on the floor so she could just come in with us instead of having to get up and get her in the night. I would certainly get more rest that way! Oh well, we'll keep working on it.

Lucy's new weird thing is that she likes to fall asleep with her hands on my cheeks. She holds my face, which is cute but is getting old. She is doing lots of cute things too. She likes to spin herself around in circles and say "woo woo". Lucy can't make her mouth make fish lips (you now when you suck your cheeks and pucker your lips) but if you do it she makes the funniest faces trying to copy you. When she wanders in the yard she puts her hands at the small of her back just like Oma does.

Well, I guess that is all for now, Lucy just woke up screaming after only half an hour. The rest of my day won't be fun.

It's Been Awhile

I haven't written in awhile so I am taking this nap time quiet to update the blog.

Dave and I have been keeping a secret but we finally told last Thursday. In February Lucy is going to be a big sister! I am due February 22nd, two weeks before Lucy's 2nd birthday. :) I have been very nervous and I have a backache, but other than that everything is going great.

Lucy has become such a person over the summer. She knows what she wants and she tells us! Lately she has taken to telling everyone where to sit, and she likes to tell people to "sit, play." Fortunately that is the height of her bossiness, so far. :) i am going to try to finish updating my videos now so you can click over to youtube and see her in action.

It's been a while

We went on a vacation!!!!!! We left Wednesday after Dave got out of work and went to Cleveland, OH. It turned out to be only three and a half hours away and was one of our best trips ever! We just went there to chill so it was great. We visited a place called the Farm Park which is a huge farm that is open like a museum/petting zoo. Lucy (and Mommy and Daddy) got to pet sheep, goats, horses, and cows. We also saw chickens, ducks, pigs, llamas, and alpacas.

This was the dairy barn. You could watch them milk the cows and even try it yourself. Or you could just pet the cows and moo at them which is what we did. :)

Petting a sheep, we can't wait to get some of our own!

Baby goats sleeping in the food bucket.

Daddy made Lucy practice sitting on the saddle so that she can take riding lessons with him as soon as possible. (His riding teacher claims three is old enough but I don't know about that!)

We went to the zoo also but that was a bit of a let down. It was huge so we had a walk a ton between exhibits and the exhibits just weren't that nice. I think we were disappointed because the brochure made it seem a lot nicer than it was. Oh well, I didn't even take any pictures there.

The day we went to the Farm park we also ended up at a nearby beach. We had asked at the hotel front desk if there was a beach or park nearby, and the girl gave us directions for a beach that was about 15minutes away. It turned out to be the highlight of our trip! The beach was about a half mile long and 200 feet wide of nice clean sand and you could swim anywhere you wanted. It wasn't really crowded and the weather was beautiful. We ended up spending the whole afternoon there on Saturday. Lucy played in the sand, I read a book and Dave just chilled. Best vacation ever! The lake was really rough because a lot of thunderstorms had been passing through the area at night (the power went out on two different days at the hotel), but we played in the waves a bit. Lucy liked it until a wave went in her face. Here are some pictures of her in the sand:

Isn't she the prettiest beach babe you ever saw?!

Lucy digging a hole (we helped her with it).

Lucy sitting next to the hole. It was a fun hole, kept her occupied for at least an hour!

Very Tricky

Lucy played a trick on me today! We were playing this afternoon and I asked her "what is your name? Is your name Lucy?" She said "no" so i asked what her name was. She looked me in the eye and said "Molly"!!! Then she gave me this sly smile and laughed a little! Can you believe her?! I was very impressed and very amused!
