LuLu
The kids were fine with her leaving, but woody was freaking out. He wasn't allowed in the same pasture as LuLu today but I guess they became friends through the fence. He was stomping his feet, kicking his back legs, whiney-ing, and racing around the big pasture. Maybe this will be the final straw that breaks the camel's back and Dave will get a pony for the kids. ;)
I am expecting a call around dinner time when whoever owns her comes home from work and discovers her missing. Until then though she is chilling in our little pasture.

The Allergist
Henry's main allergens are milk, wheat, nuts, eggs and the horse. Dr. Bingemann went over his blood test results and had the nurses do skin testing for a few things. He handled all of it very well despite his itchiness, he even flirted with the doctor and the nurses.
She gave us a new skin care regimen to try that includes bathing everyday, using a special bath oil called robathol, just barely patting him dry, putting his prescription ointment on any red spots, then topping it all off with thick creme like the one by Cetaphil that comes in the tub. If his skin is irritated, it is more likely to be irritated by other things. For example, since he is already broken out, he maybe getting more broken out every time he crawls around in the grass. He may not be allergic to the grass, but his sensitive skin is being bothered by it. Also, if his skin is broken up from scratching that is another way of entry for allergens. So when he has been breaking out in hives at the Diner it may be because there was a trace of allergen on the table and he rubbed his arms in it, so the allergen got into his system through the little scratches he has on his arms.
To go along with the high test results and the recent hives, we now have to carry an epi pen with us at all times. Very scary, but they showed us how to use and gave us an emergency action plan that tells what to do when. If his mouth, lips or face start to swell or he starts wheezing we are to inject him with the epi pen, then give him Benadryl and call 911. As I said, very scary, but there is a good chance we will never have to use it. Better to have it just in case though.
There is a very good chance Henry will outgrow at least his allergy to eggs. Lots of babies are allergic to eggs and outgrow it. There is also a good chance he will outgrow the milk allergy. The peanut allergy is only a 20% chance he will outgrow it. We will just have to wait and see.
We go back in a month to see how his skin is doing and how his weight is doing. In the future she may have do some food challenges, which would involve us going to the office and Henry eating something he has tested allergic to while they watch him to see how he reacts.
Also, I can keep nursing him as long as I want to. Even though I am only staying on the diet about 80% of the time, it is fine. As long as he doesn't have any immediate reactions (i.e. hives, or worse) to something I have eaten it is okay to keep going as I have been.
So for now we will not be feeding him any new foods, I can keep eating regular food some of the time, we will give him Benadryl whenever he needs it, we will be lotioning him more than he can stand (he is at the stage where he hates to be changed let alone covered in lotion), and I will be carrying an epi pen. I am going to close this post with a general statement to everyone:
PLEASE DO NOT FEED HENRY ANYTHING! Thank you!
(I am cooking up some ideas for labeling him at parties and such :) )

Boys
Freddy has been getting some much overdue one-on-one time from both Dave and I. He ran errands twice with Dave yesterday, he and I played a board game, and before bed we did a couple of small projects. Right now Freddy and Henry are playing together, and when Lucy is here that usually doesn't happen. It is super cute!! I will try to get a picture of them later. Freddy is missing his sister though. The first thing he said when we got home yesterday was "want Sissy to come back." and the first thing he said when he woke up this morning was "where Sissy?"
Tonight Freddy is going to spend the night with Oma and Grandpa. It was Dave's idea to send him because he has never been away from home on his own before. I think he will be fine but it is a good idea and it will leave me with only one child to entertain. :)
Sorry for the extremely poor quality of my writing this morning, I haven't had my coffee yet. ;)

There was a play, a song and a picture slide show. It was great and a little sad. I would be a bit more sad about it if I wasn't going to still be going there for the next four years. ;) When it is Henry's turn to graduate I will be crying so hard I will probably get kicked out. :)

I thought I had one but turns out I don't so out of frustration I tried winging it and it came out terribly so I am trying my hand at properly making a pattern. Anyway, Lucy and Freddy thought it looked like fun.
Lucy is making a pattern for pants for her doll Sally. Freddy is making a pattern for a sweatshirt for his moose, ZsaZsa. I am not sure how our life came to include pattern drafting, but it is fun to see what everyone comes up with.
Back to drawing raglan sleeves. Keep your fingers crossed for me that it turns out!

More about allergies
A quick update to go with this. On Sunday night the doctor called us (have I mentioned how great she is?) because she had gotten back some of his blood test results. Long story short we have an appointment to see an allergist on May 31st and we are on the wait list to go sooner if someone cancels.
We are almost out of diapers so I have to go shopping now. I will try to post more about the allergy test results later. I had to write about the hives, hives are a game changer.

9 months old!!!
Dr. Hartle put on the lab order for Henry to be tested for all different kinds of foods like wheat, corn, dairy, peanuts, soybeans, almonds, and a bunch of others, plus household allergens like dust and mold, seasonal allergens, dogs, and horses. She also marked down to have him checked for celiac disease since he is being tested for stuff anyway. She said the blood allergy test is not 100% but it will be a good jumping off point. She would really like it if I could feed him more types of foods to help him gain weight. The results should take about a week and then she will call me to go over them. I think we may be heading to an allergist if the results all come back positive.
The other good for me thing that happened at his appointment was that Dr. Hartle gave us a whole case full of samples of different Eucerin lotions. There is a calming lotion, a healing ointment, an everyday lotion, a moisturizing shower gel and a baby body and hair wash. She seemed excited to give it all away. :)
Today we went to watch Oma's alpacas be sheared. They are so skinny now! :) Then we had our 3rd t-ball game, which I didn't get to watch because I had to work the Chow House (snack bar). It was actually kind of fun, and now that I see how poorly organized our town's little league is, I am happy to help out. I think this is one of those things where Dave and I need to step up and help make it better. Normally I would run the other way, but I foresee being involved in this for many years yet and I would like it to be enjoyable. Lucy is having a lot of fun at her games and that is what matters.
I just went upstairs because I heard Lucy crying. I got her out of bed and asked her what was wrong and she said she was hungry. This is very unlike Lucy (if it had been Freddy that answer would not have surprised me) so I asked her what she was hungry for and she said, in a very sleepy and kind of sad voice "chocolate cake." I so wish I had chocolate cake right now!! I gave her some saltines instead, what a sorry substitute! :( I think I had better get to bed in case she wasn't just dreaming and actually ends up with a stomach ache. I fear I may be up again tonight (with someone other than Henry, I am up with him every night).
