'The Octopus on the Bus'

Yesterday Lucy started making up a story so I asked her if she wanted me to write it down for her. Surprisingly (now that she is 3 she can be a bit moody) she said yes. I tried very hard to write it exactly as she told it, but I will try add punctuation as I type it so that it is a bit easier to read. So here it is, her debut as an author:

'The Octopus on the Bus"
The octopus was on the bus, then drived it, then got off. And then he saw the dump truck, but the dump truck was too big so he got out. And then he saw a lion, and then it growled at him. So he walked away. And the lion followed him so he started to run and run and run until he got home. Then he went inside and told his mom that he saw a lion and the lion bit him. Then he went to bed and didn't take a nap. Then he went outside and went on the road without his mom. He fell down and cars did not drive on him. And his mom saw him and picked him up and bringed him back inside. Then he saw the octopus so he jumped in the water and swimmed and swimmed and didn't wear a bathing suit. The octopus saw him. Then he jumped out and dried himself and went back home. And then he ate a cookie and he was quite happy with his cookie and he said "more, more" and his mom gave him more cookies. Then he went back outside and petted the lion and the lion did not bite him. He wanted to get on the lion so he got on the lion and the lion rode him all the way home. And the octopus put a quilt in the water and it got all wet so he dried and dried and dried it.
The End

I did not ask her any questions while she wrote the story so this is all what was in her head. When she told Dave about it later that night she said something about a little boy so I think that the middle part of the story switches to being about a boy. I think that this afternoon she might draw a picture to go with it and if she does I will scan it in and add it to this post.

That is so SWEET!!! I love how the octopus/boy ventures out into the world but keeps returning to the safety of his mom, then back out again for more adventure.
