Ups and Downs

Yesterday was an all-over-the-place day. We started out by taking Lucy to her Kick-Off to Kindergarten Camp. It is being run by her preschool teacher, who is awesome by the way! Yesterday the camp was at the Primary School so that they could get a tour and make pictures for their soon-to-be- teachers.

Next we picked Lucy up one minute early because Freddy had a doctor's appointment we needed to get to. Lucy was not happy to have to leave the the playground. :/ She, mostly, held it together and we rushed in to Henrietta to get Fred to the doctor. She was super busy so we had to wait quite awhile, fortunately the kids love her waiting room. (Yes, I am sure they did pick up a ton of new germs from the toys, but what are you going to do?) We finally got in and it was determined that Freddy has croup, which explains the scary sounding cough he has especially at night. :/

After that we got to fight traffic on a busy road at lunch hour so that we could get to Lori's Natural Foods. We have to go there to buy some of Henry's foods. That store is fantastic, full of crazy products, smells like hippies, and expensive, but they have lots and lots of foods Henry can eat. They also have many of the specialty ingredients I need to cook for him. The effort is paying off though, Henry has gained a pound and a half over the last two weeks! (Since we were at the doctor's office I asked her to weigh him so I would know if my scale at home was right. It is right and Dr. Hartle was super impressed with him!)

After the shopping trip, which I had forgotten my list for, I buckled everyone into the van and passed out snacks. We missed lunch, but I had bought them snacks in the store so we were still holding together. We had two more stops to make but we they were near home. This is when I got a text from my friend Krista asking if I had checked me email yet because the kindergarten placement info had come. So as soon as I could stop I checked my email on my phone and found out Lucy has Mrs. Tisa for her kindergarten teacher. But the best part is that one of her best friends from preschool is going to be in her class!!!!! There was much squealing in the car (a lot of it from me). :)

So, on to Rite Aid to get Fred's prescription, some cough medicine, some candy for medicine taking bribes (one of the few things I will straight up bribe my kids for is to get them to take their medicine), and some vitamin drops for Henry. (Henry's 1 year blood test came back saying he is a bit anemic so he needs an iron supplement.)

On to our last stop, the farm to grab the mail. That turned out to be an unnecessary stop because the packet of stuff from the Primary School didn't come yet. At this point Lucy has started to point out that she hasn't had any lunch yet. Fortunately she can't tell time yet because it was 2:00 and she would have been mad that it was so late without being fed properly. :) We got home, let the poor dog out (he had been cooped up since 8:00 when we started our day), and everyone got a big snack and drinks.

The rest of the day was a series of melt downs and Henry break outs. I don't know what is bothering him but he is pretty broken out this week. I managed to get dinner and the boys got to bed early. To ease things after some earlier arguments, Lucy had a sleepover with me. When we do that, she brings her pillow and a stack of books to my room. I go to bed with her and we talk and each read our own books until she falls asleep. It is lovely. :) Well, not so lovely for Dave anymore. Lucy is a bit too big for all 3 of us to sleep comfortably so he slept on the couch with Gus last night. :D

All the kids are up now so I am off to get breakfasts and my coffee.
