Doctor's Appointments

Yesterday Henry went for his 2 month check up. He is perfect of course! He is 24 inches long  which puts him in the 90th percentile for height! He might be the tallest kid! :)He weighed 13lbs 2oz which is 75th percentile. He is healthy but not very happy. His nose is still a bit stuffy from his cold which makes it hard for him to nurse. It is getting better though. He was super cranky yesterday after getting his shots. :(

Today we went back to the doctor so the big kids could get a couple of things checked and get their flu shots. I wanted to have Freddy's ears checked and the timing turned out to be perfect, he didn't really get the cold we all had but he does have an ear infection. First of the season, hurray! :( The only clue that something was up with him is that he hasn't been sleeping well. From now on I will remember that when he doesn't sleep well he usually has an ear infection. He was pretty mad at me for making him get a flu shot, but I will take that over having him get really sick.

Lucy needed to have something done about some warts on her fingers. One of them was very large which is why I made the appointment. She had a total of 5 warts on 3 fingers. The doctor put prescription strength stuff on them, then put a piece of medical tape over them and then strips of duct tape over that. Lucy has 3 fingers with pretty hot pink duct tape on them. :) Tomorrow we are supposed to take the tape off and they will be blistered up. Once the blisters heal we put this sticky medicated pad on it with duct tape over it. Every couple of days we are supposed to take everything off, and sand the warts with a sanding sponge from the hardware store and then put a new pad and tape back on until it is gone. She said the sanding off of the old dead stuff is an important step. Weird! It may take bribery to get this accomplished over the next few weeks. Lucy was only mildly upset about the flu shot and was quickly over it.

While we waited for Freddy's prescription to be filled we went up to play at the farm for a little bit. I posted a picture of that earlier.

Freddy is doing great with potty training, he has had very few accidents! Lucy, of course, loves school so she is happy and doing well. Today was show and tell and they were supposed to be bring something transportation related, she brought a toy horse!  At pick-up the teacher told me they had fun discussing what animals you could and couldn't ride. :D

We are having fun around here, but I am exhausted!
A sunny fall afternoon visit to the farm.

Progress Report

I bet you are dying to know about our potty adventures, right? :D Well it is going great! Freddy totally has peeing in the potty down. He has about a 75% success rate with pooping in the potty. I don't think he quite recognizes the feeling soon enough, but for less than a week I say he is awesome! He was pretty excited to try out the bathrooms at the Diner and at Lucy's school. :)

I highly recommend the book and website "Oh Crap! Potty Training." The biggest take away I got from the book was to believe in and trust your child. If you have faith that they can do something, chances are good they will have faith in themselves and be able to do it. This is something that can easily be forgotten when you are in the midst of worrying about a new challenge your child is taking on. I will be chanting this to myself on Friday as we leave, with no diaper, on an almost two hour car ride to visit my parents for the weekend.

In other news, some of us are recovering from our first cold of the school year. Unfortunately some of us are just coming down with it. Dave is pretty much over it, and Lucy and Henry are on the "still runny nose but feeling better" stage. I am in the middle of the "sore throat and headache" stage, while Freddy is in the "just starting to get it grumpy" stage. His refusing to take a nap the last couple of days isn't helping his mood either.

Other than that I am trying to get organized and do a good fall cleaning, but progress is slow. I have a plan to rearrange some shelves and I got some stuff into bins to go to the basement, so I now I have to wait for Dave's help. I am also trying to get a jump start on the holidays so I have got some lists and even a project or two going- in my head! hahaha! Yes I am a bit sleep deprived today why do you ask? ;D
